TRANSNISTRIA ACCUSES MOLDOVA OF BLOCKING THE IMPORTS OF MEDICINES
Transnistria has accused Moldova of blocking the imports of medicines. Tiraspol called on the international mediators to and observers of the 5+2 negotiation process, as well as the OSCE Presidency-in-Office, “to pay close attention to the absolutely inhumane actions of the Moldovan side and to assist in removing the obstacles posed by Moldovan structures to the normal functioning of medical institutions in Transnistria.”
“Having provoked an acute crisis in the field of providing Transnistria with medicines last year, Chisinau moved to the next phase of creating problems in the Transnistrian healthcare system, artificially reducing its functionality, which poses a direct threat to the life and health of the population of the republic,” the Tiraspol authorities believe, arguing that Moldova "blocked the imports of equipment for the implementation of computer-aided tomography into Transnistria.”
According to the Transnistrian ministry of foreign affairs, the blocked equipment for carrying out diagnostic procedures was intended for the hospital for the disabled of the Great Patriotic War, which serves privileged categories of residents of the region.
Moldova’s National Bureau for Country Reintegration that Tiraspol begin the authorization procedure for the medical institution for which the equipment is intended.
“Equipment containing sources of ionizing radiation must meet the requirements of radiological safety, and only authorized organizations may import it,” the Bureau says.
